The Cincinnatian Hotel, was built as the Palace Hotel in 1882. The hotel was built to be a "Grand Hotel" with 300 rooms. The building was designed by Samuel Hannaford in a French Second Empire style.

In 1987 the hotel underwent a $25-million renovation converting the hotel from 300 guest rooms to 146. The features on the exterior of the building were retained along with the old world touches on the interior. The Cincinnatian is a highly rated hotel with a Mobil Four Star, AAA Four Diamond rating.

The hotel was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
