Located in Historic Galena, IL, this church was the first Methodist Church to be organized and built in N.W. Illinois. It is listed as UMC Historic Site #290. Established in 1828, the first church was built in 1833. In 1838 the church was destroyed by fire. The present church was built in 1854.
Gen. U.S. Grant was a member of this congregation.
