NY/PA Border Monument #44 - U.S. Historic Survey Stones and Monuments on Waymarking.com

A friend and I went searching for New York / Pennsylvania Border Monument #44 based on its location on the Apalachin Quadrangle. We found the monument in fair condition. It was leaning towards the East because a tree is growing into the marker. The monument has a rectangular cross section with a chiseled cross across the top of it. The North face reads "NY". The South face reads "PA". The West face reads "44 M". The East face is unmarked. The monument is located 31.5 feet East of the centerline of Race Road (SR 926) near Cadis, PA. I would suggest accessing this mark from the South. The NY portion of the dirt road was in poor condition and traveled up a steep hill.
