This bronze sculpture and garden were given to the University of
Missouri-Columbia by trustees of the Jefferson Club to recognize the
University's unique connection with Thomas Jefferson. MU is the first Land
Grant University in the Louisiana Purchase Territory, and the design of the
Francis Quadrangle is modeled after the plan first used by Jefferson at the
