In 1894 a group of parents west of Silverton decided that their area warranted it's own school. The district agreed, and a one-acre parcel was purchased for $60. Another $400 was allocated for the building, and the new school opened in 1895. In 1954, the age of the structure plus the advent of the automobile meant that the building had outlived it's usefulness, so it was merged with a newer nearby school, and the land and building were sold to a farming group. In 1978 the building was sold for $1 plus back taxes to the local community theater, who refurbished it and have been using it as their home since.
