Greene & Greene are well known for their craftsman buildings in Pasadena. This was apparently the last of their wooden houses and was built for lumber magnate, William Thorsen.
This building is also known as the Sigma Phi Place as it houses a U.C. Berkeley fraternity. It might be difficult to imagine a frat occupying such an exquisite structure, but they are very proud of the place and take good care of it.
Tours are occasionally offered of this place, and they are well worth it; the interior of the place is equally gorgeous.
