This working windmill is an example of many windmills in the Great Plains states of the American “West.”. This area lies east of the Rocky Mountains in the United States and Canada area and covers parts of the U.S. states of Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas and Wyoming. Most of them are working windmills to pump water for cattle in the prarie areas where water is scarce as this windmill is.
