Gibbet Hill is on the western edge of the Dartmoor National Park in Devon, passing along the eastern side of Gibbet is the A386 between Tavistock and Okehampton. Many years ago before modern day transport this road was called the King Way, it was the so called highway to Exeter from Tavistock. This route was notorious with highway men. If the highway men were caught they were put into an iron cage on Gibbet Hill and left to die.
