2008 has been declared the Year of the Frog. Zoos and conversation organizations across the world have joined together to bring awareness to the public and try to find solutions to the worlds' disappearing population of frogs and other amphibians.

Brookfield Zoo has joined in by highlighting the amphibians that call the zoo home and educating the public about things everyone can do to help. If you only have a limited time at the zoo, this will provide you a walk around much of the zoo, while still stopping in five exhibit buildings.

N 41° 50.077' W 087° 49.977' - Your tour will begin at the Discovery Center. Here you will find displays with information about Year of the Frog. Make sure to walk all the way around each display wall - there is content on both sides.

N 41° 50.028' W 087° 49.884' - Your next stop will be at the Fragile Kingdom. While you are looking for the Chinese newt, also be on the lookout for the clouded leopard that also lives in this building.

N 41° 49.898' W 087° 49.988' - Next, you'll be stopping at the Hamill Family Play Zoo. Note - admission to this exhibit is extra. If you don't want to pass the extra admission, take advantage of seeing the lemurs outside on nicer days.

Due west of Hamill Family Play Zoo - Get ready to find several amphibians at your next stop, the Swamp. With animals native to the swamp areas of the United States, you'll learn about the amphibians in your own backyard.

N 41° 40.893' W 087° 50.238' - Feathers and Scales will give you a great list of things you can do to help not only amphibians, but our environment as a whole. While you're there, check out all of the very colorful (and poisonous) frogs.

N 41° 50.075' W 087° 50.113' - Your last stop will bring you to the amphibians that live "down under" in Australia House. If you are reluctant to go inside because of the free-flying bats, no worries, mate, the bats are now separated from the public.
