How Tun Woods is a newly planted wood,the land to create the woods was donated by barrow Council,at the West of the site it has been left unplanted and from this point great views can be had from the Orientation table.

The West end of the newly planted How Tun Woods has been left clear and an orientation table placed here,the views are magnificent on clear days.
Looking West out to sea,the Isle of Man can be seen,also Scotland can be seen as well as parts of the lake District national park,but the view to the NW is dominated by the wonderful prospect of Black Combe mountain.
Another excellent addition to the table is that the distance figures to the indicated sites are given in metric and for those of us who appreciate proper measurements,in miles also.

How Tun woods can be accessed from many locations,one the best,for a nice walk is from Ormsgill Quarry(disused,and nicely landscaped for the public)to the West of the woods,at Park Road Barrow in Furness.
