The Dubuque Star Brewery was built in 1898 with a capacity of 35,000 barrels per year. It is one of the oldest brewery buildings in Iowa. The brewery was closed in 1917 because of prohibition and re-opened in 1933. By 1969, it's production had increased to 500,000 barrels per year. The Brewery was leased by several different groups from 1971 to 1999. After over a century, the brewery left the Rhomberg Family in 2001. In 2007, Stone Cliff Winery took up residence within the building for their Family-operated wine production.
Some of the original pieces of equipment from the brewery are on display within the building. There is also a wall of beer cans and bottles displayed. Many of them have some of the 98 different brand labels that were produced here.
