Long Description:
IN the 1850's, Henry Shaw started what is now known as the Missouri Botanical Gardens. One of the early buildings he built was the Linnean House built in honor of the great Swedish scientist. Although he and his apostles didn't visit, there are many, many later generations of apostles that continue to do his work cataloging and studying plants of the world, especially the vanishing rainforests. Today the Linnean House had a large camelia exhibit.
On the opposite side of the botanical gardens, there is a bust of Carl Linnaeus.
