The Parish of all saints Satterthwaite lies between Windermere and Coniston Water, and besides the village of Satterthwaite, the neighbouring hamlets of Force Forge,Dale Park and Grizedale, are part of the Parish.
From the earliest times the church served like many other churches as a school for the children of the village.
In the 19th. century it was thought that churches should be strictly reserved for worship, and a school was opened nearby.
Interestingly on the door to the main entrance to the church is a large sign saying "This church is open",as disappointingly so many country churches are locked these days.
