From Missouri: A Guide to the "Show-Me" State, Columbia section:

The site of BOON'S LICK TRAIL, NE. corner West Broadway and McBaine Ave., the pioneer trail that extended between St. Louis and Franklin, passing through Columbia, is marked by a red-granite shaft erected by the D.A.R in 1913.

The Boone's Lick Trail actually extended from St. Charles to Franklin. The marker remains in place however it appears to have been moved to the other side of Broadway at sometime, most likely when Broadway was expanded four lanes.
