Have passed by this bell on many occasions before, but today we actually pulled in and checked it out. It is a really neat bell with the 'clapper' on the outside! We tested it out and it sounded great...a bit loud though. The entire mechanism was quite interesting! Anyway...have no idea why this bell is here or how it came to live here, but it is in great shape and is very accessible. It is located right next to some parking spots and is on a brick base.
If you know anything about this bell, please share it in your visit log. This bell is located right off of Route 19 on the right hand side if you are heading north to Pittsburgh.
The inscription on the bell reads:
Made for the Seth Thomas Clock Co.,
New York and Chicago,
1909.
