The bridge might be named after a George Duck who funded the repairs to the bridge or the name could just be a corruption of Duke's (bridge)
The historic bridge has been closed to traffic for a long while, traffic now crosses the river Esk here by means of a ford.
The bridge bears the coat of arms of the Nevilles, who succeeded to Danby in 1380.
The medieval bridge was restored in 1717.
Parking can be found quite close by at Danby lodge.
The bridge and the Esk here is a popular beauty spot, with walkers and riders stopping off here.
