This piece of moor near the summit of Danby Moor in the Yorkshire Moors, was the home of Danby Beacon Radar Station, the summit of the moor is just under 1000 feet.
It was here that the site detected and led to the first enemy aircraft to be shot down on English soil of WW11,the aircraft was a Heinkel 111 which later crashed at Bannial Flat Farm near Whitby on 3rd. of Feb.1940.
Nothing remains of the station but a small plaque, stone mounted .
