The Hilde Performance Center, an open air stage and bandshell, is located behind Plymouth City Center. The 45-foot tall structure features a raised stage, and a clear glass wall that allows views of the wetlands beyond during performances.
This structure was designed by the same architects that built the famous Lake Harriet Bandshell in Minneapolis, and was built using a $1 million donation from Al Hilde, Jr. and his wife, Jayne. Hilde was Plymouth's mayor from 1968 to 1978.
This bandshell is used for a variety of performances, but our favorite is the annual Music in Plymouth concert. This show, held during the week of July 4th (but never on the 4th), features the Minnesota Orchestra and is followed by spectacular fireworks. We used to live nearby and could walk here, but now we make the drive with the kids - it's well worth it!
Check here if the structure has a roof (required for posting): yes
Check here if the structure is enclosed or mostly enclosed on three sides (required for posting): yes
