"According to the city's history, as one of the oldest buildings in San Leandro, the Casa Peralta was originally built in 1869 and was substantially rebuilt in 1901. Then it was remodeled in 1926 by a descendant of the Peralta family into a Spanish villa, incorporating some of the bricks from another Peralta home, the Rancho San Antonio adobe, which was built in Oakland in 1821.
The Peralta family was one of the original land grantees for part of the area that is now San Leandro, and it played a key role in the city's history."
