We have taken the access from Highcliffe Castle where there is a popular zig-zag path down to the shore. A kilometre to the east is the Wharncliffe car park and eastern access point to the beach.
There are splendid views to Christchurch harbour and Mudeford to the west and along the coast to Milford on Sea to the East. Across The Solent the Isle of Wight can be seen.
South coastal beaches near Bournemouth are renowned for their cleanliness and provide excellent bathing and swimming access. There are toilets in Wharncliffe Road and Crow's Nest car park and shops a short walk away in Highcliffe itself. Traders sell snacks and ice cream in the peak summer season.
There is a restriction on dogs on the beach during the summer season. Please check the signs if in doubt. Cars are not allowed on the beach but sun bathing, walking, jogging and water sports prove to be popular.
