Standing 141 feet tall, this steeple tops the San Agustin Cathedral in Laredo, Texas. When it was originally constructed in 1872, there were no clocks in the tower. Within a few years, photos show the clocks were installed, where they served for many years as the de facto town clocks. The building was recently renovated, but the clocks have proved to be a continuing problem. The tower, the second highest building in Laredo, has proved to a lightening magnet, and the strikes have played havoc with the time keeping ability of the clocks.
