The Aliceville Museum has been listed by the History Channel as one of the top World War II museums and by National Geographic Traveller magazine as one of the top five cultural sites in West Alabama.
The Museum opened in 1995 in buildings previously used as a Coca-Cola Bottling facility. It contains permanent exhibits from Camp Aliceville, which housed 6000 German prisoners of war from 1943 to 1945. Included are many art works by German prisoners, uniforms, medals, weapons, letters, and maps. A 14 minute video gives insight into the operations and activities at the camp, and on how local citizen and prisoners happily coexisted.
Also in the museum are military artifacts from local veterans, displays of agricultural machinery, and a vintage 1948 Coca-Cola bottling works.
The Museum also sponsors various cultural and culinary activities.
