Way back when, this was used to alert the town when there was big trouble! Fortunately, with the exception of tests, it was never used. Years later, the siren was reworked & connected to the two other fire stations and now is used for fire alerts.

I was able to ascertain all this information from a few of the volunteers at the fire station this afternoon. They were doing a fund raiser (selling bulbs and flowers) and explained to me the history of the siren. The fire station is a contributing structure for the Moorestown Historic District (NRHP)
