On December 30, 2002 the Sertoma Butterfly House opened, which offers classes and photography opportunities and works to educate people about the amazing world of arthropods. The Sioux Falls Noon Sertoma Club raised money for a year-round, tropical display of tropical butterflies in a natural habitat. The building houses a display area, a laboratory, classrooms, a museum store and public areas. The goal of the Sertoma Butterfly House is to increase awareness of natural surroundings and conservation of habitat. Sit on a bench, listen to the soothing sounds of the waterfall and watch colorful butterflies dart among tropical plants. The Sertoma Butterfly House is home to over 500 beautiful butterflies from all over the world, and is fun for the whole family.
