This is one of a series of markers along the boundary of the old Baca Location #1 land grant, most of which is now the Valles Caldera National Preserve. The portion of the Baca grant to the west of this marker is now part of Bandelier National Monument. To the east is US Forest Service land.
From Los Alamos, drive west on state road 4 to the county line. The marker is set in a wobbly round concrete cylinder about 50 feet upslope to the north of the road. There is an orange USFS witness post next to it, which should make it easy to find. There is also a General land Office closing corner marker (
visit link) about 25 feet due south. These markers are set right on the Los Alamos/Sandoval county line. CGS Benchmark FO0090 is nearby to the west. (
