In 2008, St. Margaret's is celebrating the 125th year of the establishment of the parrish. Prior to 1883, the congregation shared a church with nearby Penetanguishene. However, in 1883 they moved to a wooden church built in Midland and the parrish was separated.
The corner stone for St. Margaret's was laid in 1911 and the church was dedicated on Oct. 11, 1914. The church was blessed in 1922 and dedicated to the local soldiers who had died in World War I. The eight bells in the steeple, cast in France, are inscribed with the names of the fallen soldiers from the area.
A highlight of the church is a stained glass window that commemorates the visit of Pope John Paul II to the area in 1984.
