Bell UH-1B
"Iroquois"
First flown in 1960 the HU1B (now UH-1b) carried a crew of two and seven
troops or three litters, two sitting casualties and medical attendant or 3,000
pounds of freight. In Vietnam, many UH-1Bs were used in the armed support
role with a rock pack and electrically-controlled macine gun mounted on each
side of the fuselage. UH-1Bs were also used by the South Vietnam and
Cambodia Air Forces.
The UH-1B was superseded by the UH-1C on the Bell assembly line.
Another version, the UH1F was used for psychological warfare missions in
Vietnam. The final production version was the UH-1H. Deliveries of
this version began in 1967 and totaled 3,573.
