The post is named the Louis Hagen Post. Hagen was the first person from the region killed in World War I. It's located at 6401 Stockton Ave.
The legion was organzied on November 16, 1928. It's first president was Louis E. Davis. At its first meeting there were 27 servicemen present.
Before moving to its current location, the meetings were held in two other places. The memorial hall was built in 1929 and dedicated in September 1932.
