The great thing about globetrotters and backpackers is that we leave a trail of used paperbacks in the cities and towns we visit so that no one ever has to be without reading material. Birdland is a have for those of us who like to browse the shelves of used books. It's also a pretty nice internet cafe and bar/cafe. The owner is an expat named Big Jimmy who has been in Thailand quite a while with a built up store of knowledge to share. I caught them at 7am when they were just opening up and traded a Sharon McCrumb mystery for a Diane Mott Davidson I've been wanting to read. Sweet.
