A fire engine which saw service in both Dundalk and Carlingford is now on hand to help put out fires in the Romanian town of Limanu. The transporting of the Alexander fire engine, with a 1985 registration, was organised by Jimmy Quinn from Cooley. The vehicle was a gift from the people of the county and from Louth County Council. Before it was sent to Romania it was serviced by senior mechanic Damien Devlin from Dundalk Fire Station, while the fire stations in Dundalk, Drogheda and Dublin provided the necessary equipment. Staff in Limanu are being trained in the use of the Alexander Fire Tender.
