The Barrie Farmers' Market is at the City Hall located at Collier St. and Mulcaster St.
The Barrie Farmers' Market was born April 24, 1846. A grant of land, 3.5 acres, was awarded to the farmers of Simcoe District. This land was roughly centered at Collier and Mulcaster Street. The grant stipulated that the land only could be used for a market house and for market trading. In 1952, Bill 27 came into being, it gave the Townof Ba rrie the right to do anything it wanted with the land. In exchange the Town of Barrie promised to provide the Market with a building and a place of operation. That's why the Barrie Farmers' Market is held on the premises of Barrie City Hall, both outside and inside the rotonda.
