This "pattern book" style Victorian was built in 1900 and is considered a primary contributor to the Stadium-Seminary National Historic District. The pattern book style of Victorian is Queen Anne in style and typically 1 1/2 to 2 stories, designed to fit a narrow urban lot. This was the poor man's Victorian home and they can be found in many old middle class neighborhoods such as this one.

The National Register narrative for the historic district decribes the neighborhood this way:

The Stadium-Seminary Historic District is significant to the city of Tacoma as a sizeable, intact residential area which was the ultimate in fashion, particularly during its zenith between the turn of the century and the period of the First World War. Within its boundaries are several institutional buildings of monumental proportion as well as examples of nearly every residential style current in the Pacific Northwest between 1888 and 1930.
