Installed in 2000, this sign reads "A tribute to the Armed Forces that have defended the United States of America."
The ironic part this sign the fact that Camp Butler was a Civil War outpost and a POW camp for Confederate soldiers - many of whom did not survive. So not all the soldiers in this cemetery defended the United States.
But intermixed with the CSA graves (which have a pointed peak gravestone instead of the more familiar rounded one), you can find veterans from all the subsequent wars.
