St Mellion Parish Church, Cornwall - This Old Church on Waymarking.com

The parish church is dedicated St Melanus who, it is said, was born in South Wales. He was an abbot in Brittany and died abour 617 AD. The church was appropriated by the Bishop of Exeter on 10th Feb 1508-9.
There are some very old monumental brasses in the church which date from the mid 16th century. There are also an impressive marble monument of William Coryton esq. ob. 1651, and Elizabeth (Chichester), his wife, ob. 1656, consisting of a canopied arch supported on marble columns, beneath which are effigies of both kneeling at a desk.
On the night of 10th Sep 1843 a valuable communion set was stolen whilst the Rector was at his father's death bed.
The Church was restored in 1862, at a cost of £1,000. The parish register dates from the year 1558.
