The best stretch of sandy beach in the Florida Keys, at Bahia Honda State Park between Marathon and Big Pine. A small entrance fee is required. Open 8am to Sunset.

Despite the name, this beach is excellent. Long stretches of sandy shoreline with clear, shallow water. Nice snorkleing out to turtle-grass beds, and no trash to be found!
The Silver Palm nature trail is at the far end of the drive along the beach and worth the walk. There are sheltered picnic areas with grills, and clean restrooms with separate changing rooms, and outdoor showers. Kayaks are available for rent near the dive shop, and boat trips out to Looe Key can be arranged for only $25. Campsites are available on both ocean and bay side, and cabins can be rented.
The park also offers 2 other beaches: Calusa and Loggerhead, but Sandspur is the largest beach.
