The statue is on the site of the Nicholas Kransz family homestead and inn, known as the Seven Mile House. This was located on the Old Green Bay Road (now Ridge Ave.), about 7 miles from downtown Chicago. According to the son of the original owner, Abraham Lincoln attended a caucus of local farmers at the House during his 1860 candidacy for President. Today the site area is known as Senn Park and is adjacent to Nicholas Senn High School.
