When this church was built in 1964, the older one, that was located near the church hall on Mill St., was torn down. That hall is still in use. There are plans to build a new hall near the present church.
In the fall of 2007, Holy Family R. C. Church in Machias,NY closed. The parishioners form there joined the parishioners of St. Philomena.
