From the Karate America Wisconsin Rapids literature:
"Our Karate school was started by Paul and Mike Welch. Their efforts laid the foundation of our school and set the tone for KAWR. In 2004, the careers of the Welch's lead them to other cities, and the school was purchased by Scott and Ann Blanke (parents of Second Degree Black Belts Andy and Jackson). Scott is also the owner of Bank-A-Count Corporation, a computer printing company in Rudolph, and he works evenings at the school with our lead instructor, Mr. Tyler Henkel, to keep our school running smoothly.

Mr. Tyler Henkel is our Master Instructor. He has been in Martial Arts since 1993. His experience started at Karate America Sun Prairie under the instruction of Mr. Jeff Denu, and continued with instruction under Mr. Bill Koster - achieving the rank of 4th Degree Black Belt. Mr Henkel began instructing other students when he was a brown belt. He became a Chief Instructor at K.A.S.P at the age of 16. College brought him to K.A.W.R. in 2003.

Beyond teaching experience, Mr. Henkel also has competition and demonstration experience locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. During high school and the first few years of college he competed in a different state every month on the N.A.S.K.A tournament circuit. Along with individual performances, Mr. Henkel has coached and participated in numerous national competition and demonstration teams.

His passion for Martial Arts excellence exceeds most expectations!

Our unique "Kinderkicker" program is specialized to children ages 4-6 and emphasizes:
o Improving listening skills,
o following directions
o Better focus and concentration
o Techniques to move onto the Basic Program

The Basic Program is designed for students ranging anywhere from 7 to 15 years old. We have three different class groups: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.

These classes teach the students everything that a dedicated and focused martial artist should know to succeed. We specialize in teaching martial arts techniques, forms, combinations, self defense, and focus on important skills such as self discipline, control, concentration, respect, speed, flexibility, confidence, goal setting, and perseverance.

We teach our students to do the best that they can. We encourage them to practice at home. We are serious in dedicating ourselves to improve each student by having a calendar that shows each student what to expect to learn during each class.

We promise to guide each student on their road to success and their journey to becoming a Karate America Black Belt.

The Adult program is for anyone who is 16 and older.

This is a way for you to stay in shape and learn self defense.
