St Mary's Parish church of Dalton in Furness has a small cemetery at the rear of the church,at one small corner of the cemetery can be found a small remembrance garden with a memorial plaque dedicated to the victims of the Bubonic Plague which devastated the country,the plaque remembers 360 victims,who were buried in a mass grave.
The plague is thought to have been brought to the town by a Mr Lancaster and his wife who travelled to the town from London.
