Thailand is making me fall in love with riding the rails. Went to Bangkok early Sunday morning and took the next train north that was stopping in Ayuttaya - 2 hours to travel 45 miles. I think they used to call that a milk run. All wooden seats on the train I rode up on. A very real railroad experience. With the open windows you could hear the sound of the rails singing. The ride back was standing room only so I have no idea what the seats were like. It was the express though so I didn't have to stand 2 hours - just an hour and a half! But it was a big part of the adventure of the day and I wouldn't have it any other way.
