Handing over the candle at the Eskom offices in Megawatt Park, north of Johannesburg, FF Plus leader Pieter Mulder said the gesture was to show that many South Africans had to rely on candle light because of constant power cuts.
The party also handed over a database of experts in various fields. The database comprised 1800 curriculum vitae, containing details of 145 engineers, 92 people who hold MBAs and 44 people who hold doctorate degrees.
“A lot of these people were put on early pension and many of them are merely unemployed or have to be satisfied with the income which they generate with home industries, because they are struggling to find formal job opportunities as a result of affirmative action,” said Mulder.
The database was compiled following people’s visits to the FF Plus website www.satalent.co.za over the past 26 months.
