This tranquil area can be reached from Bascote or Long Itchington in Warwickshire. The single track road to Bascote Lodge Farm continues into an unsealed track which is driveable and leads to a small parking area by the canal.
Next to the bridge is Toll Gate House, a small canalside home all on its own in the countryside. The bridge itself is a typical brick design and has some pretty big cracks on its underside. It crosses the Grand Union Canal and provides access by road to the parking area and to the private residence. It was a beautiful spring day (in February!) when we took our photographs today and the relections on the canal were very picturesque.
The Bascote Locks are located just past the bridge with 14 steps and there are signs of old railway lines all around this area with rails to trails routes.
