The Blackstone Hotel was constructed in 1929 for wealthy cattleman C. A. "Gus" O'Keefe. O'Keefe named the hotel after a visit to the Blackstone Hotel in Chicago. The facade is divided into 'bays' by slender brick piers capped by ornate terra cotta finials. The Blackstone is not strictly Art Moderne or Art Deco, but those styles are reflected in its massing and details.
Owned and operated for a time by Hilton Hotels, the Blackstone is currently a Courtyard by Marriott.
