The Basking Ridge Presbyterian Church was founded in 1717. In 1740 the congregation invited the famous English evangelists, James Davenport and George Whitefield to preach outside the church, drawing over 3,000 people.
The current buliding, a fine example of Greek Revival architecture, was built in 1829 and is listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places.
On the church property is a 500-600 year old oak tree that shades the ancient church burial ground.
