The Montreal Exchange (formerly the Montreal Stock Exchange) is owned by Bourse de Montréal Inc. TSX:MXX.
The Montréal Exchange, Canada's oldest exchange, has leadership in three areas of finance: financial derivatives market, clearing services and IT business solutions.
In 1975, the Montréal Exchange changed the Canadian financial environment by introducing stock options. Years later, it established a major futures market.
Today, the Exchange is a true competitor on the US option market thanks to the quality of its services and its technology infrastructure. It is the first and only foreign Exchange authorized by the US Securities and Exchange Commission to manage the technical operations of a US exchange, the Boston Options Exchange (BOX).
