These two sculptures are located on a small island in the village of Turvey, Bedfordshire.

The island lies in the river Great Ouse just before the old Turvey bridge road crossing. The statue Jonah was nicknamed this after he was brought to the village and placed here in 1844. It is said that he kneels upon a fish. A famous, wealthy inhabitant of the village named John Higgins bought the sculpture from Ashfield House, Hertfordshire before it was pulled down and placed him in this idyllic location. Constantly flooding, Jonah certainly has a regular wash as the river Great Ouse ebbs and flows over the nearby flood meadows.
In 1953 Jonah's wife arrived to be a companion to Jonah. Unfortunately, Jonah's wife is a bearded man's head on a woman's body. Both statues can be viewed from the bridge.
