Whirlpool State Park is located on a point where the Niagara River takes a sharp right turn and heads towards Lake Ontario. At this point is a large whirlpool which gives its name to the park. The rim of the gorge here contains a trail that heads south towards Niagara Falls and north to Devil's Hole State Park. There are plenty of oppotunities to view the various parts of the gorge here. About 1/2 mile north along the rim trail is a set of stairs that will take you down into the gorge to that trail.
There are a number of pinic pavilions and pinic tables here with grills. Other amenities include a playground and a visitors center.
The park is open from dawn to dusk, and there is no entrance fee.
