Playa de la Arena is made up of black volcanic sand. Playa de la Arena is the only beach in the area around Los Gigantes/Puerto Santiago, so if the weather is good, you wouldn't be alone on the beach!

Playa de la Arena is small, aprox. 120m, but it's natural contrary Tenerife's
most popular beaches. It's black, reminding you being on an island of volcanic
origin. The beach is situated along Avenida Maritima, which offers free parking
facilities. Along Avenida Maritima you find a beachfront promenade with benches.
The beach is surrounded by palms.
- The beach is equipped with changing rooms and showers.
- It's possible to rent sun beds, sun umbrellas and pedal boats.
- There is a lifeguard on duty from 10-17 in wintertime and from 10-18 in
summertime.
- There are many bars and restaurants in the beach area.
- There are fine access to the beach for wheelchairs (the cords leads you to
the entrance for wheelchairs).

Notice that you have to be aware of big waves (keep an eye on your kids!):

closed (red flag up). But these waves shown above are big to children.
