The bridge (Pont Fawr) on which the sundial is situated was built by Sir John Wynn in 1636 and the sundial was placed on the bridge in 1936 to mark its tercentenary (see plaque). The sundial is, considering its position in very good condition but quite hard to reach safely as the bridge is very narrow and there are no pavements.
