Boonton's Darress Theatre was built in 1919 and got its start as a vaudeville venue. Still in operation today, the Darress presents plays, concerts, independent and foreign films, new releases, and silent and other vintage films.

The Darress has an unusual design, where the lobby is behind the screen and patrons enter from along side the screen.
Originally known as the Darress, it became known as the State Theater when it started showing talking films.
Under the current owner it reverted to its original name.
Local legend says the theater is haunted.
